National Apprenticeship Week – recognising talent across the country

Darenth Valley Apprentice, Sam Moss

We’re joining thousands of other UK businesses this week celebrating the positive impact apprentices have on the economy and recognising the contribution they’ve made to our business through the years.

Our current apprentice Sam, 17, has been with us for four months now and is very much part of the team.  He spends one day a week at college, and that day is split into theory and practical, giving him chance to put into practice not only what he is learning at college but what he is picking up on the job.

Asked why he chose an apprenticeship with Darenth Valley, Sam said,

“I wanted a practical, creative job and I like the variety – every day is different!”

From a business point of view, we’ve benefitted hugely from adding an enthusiastic and capable member to the Darenth Valley team. Sam works hard and makes a significant contribution to the day to day success of the business.  We take our role as his employer seriously, we have a duty to help him learn and grow on the job – it’s an investment in Sam’s future and ours.

“Apprenticeships offer people of all ages and backgrounds a high-quality route to skilled employment with the option to train at every level in a range of exciting professions*”
